Restrictions Supported and Manageable via STAAH Channel connect API V2

21 January 2025
Restrictions-Supported-and-Manageable-via-STAAH-Channel-connect-API-V2

In the fast-paced world of hospitality, managing booking restrictions effectively is essential for optimizing room availability, maximizing revenue, and maintaining a smooth guest experience.

As part of STAAH’s commitment to delivering seamless connectivity for our partners, we support a variety of restrictions that can be managed easily via our API. These restrictions give hoteliers the flexibility to control their inventory based on specific operational needs and market demands.

Here’s a look at some of the key restrictions that can be implemented and managed via the STAAH API:

1. Stop Sell

The Stop Sell restriction allows hotels to suspend the sale of certain rate plans or categories for a specified period. When a hotel implements a stop sell on a particular rate plan, it means that no reservations can be made for that rate plan during the restricted time frame. This restriction is particularly useful during periods of high demand or when a hotel is overbooked and wants to prevent further bookings for specific rate categories.

2. Closed to Arrival (CTA)

The Closed to Arrival (CTA) restriction prevents guests from making reservations with check-ins on specific dates. Essentially, if a guest’s planned arrival falls within the closed-to-arrival period, they are unable to book a stay. This can be applied to certain dates or periods, and is useful when a hotel wants to control bookings based on availability or specific events.

3. Closed to Departure (CTD)

The Closed to Departure (CTD) restriction works similarly to CTA but focuses on check-out dates. This restriction prevents guests from making reservations where their departure falls within a specific restricted period. It’s a great tool for managing your property’s availability and optimizing room turnover on critical dates.

4. Minimum Stay Arrival

The Minimum Stay Arrival restriction ensures that guests booking a stay must meet a certain minimum number of nights on specific dates. This restriction is typically applied to bookings where the guest’s arrival date falls within a particular period. For example, if a hotel sets a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights for arrivals during a holiday season, guests won’t be able to book unless they meet the minimum stay condition.

5. Maximum Stay Arrival

Similar to the minimum stay requirement, the Maximum Stay Arrival restriction limits the length of time guests can stay if their check-in date falls within a specified period. For example, if a hotel sets a maximum stay of 5 nights for guests checking in on a specific date, any guest whose reservation includes that date cannot book more than 5 nights in total.

6. Minimum Length of Stay Through

The Minimum Length of Stay Through restriction is designed to ensure that guests adhere to the minimum stay requirement for each night of their booking. The highest minimum stay requirement from all the stay dates is applied to the reservation. For instance, if a hotel sets a 3-night minimum stay for January 10th, any guest booking a stay that includes January 10th must meet the 3-night minimum stay.

7. Maximum Length of Stay Through

The Maximum Length of Stay Through restriction limits the total number of nights a guest can stay if their stay includes specific dates. The restriction checks the maximum stay requirement for each night of the guest’s stay and applies the lowest maximum stay limit across all the dates. For example, if a hotel sets a 5-night maximum stay for January 15th, any guest whose stay includes January 15th will not be able to book more than 5 nights in total.

Why These Restrictions Matter

These restrictions are essential for hoteliers who want to have granular control over their room inventory, manage availability based on demand, and increase profitability. By leveraging the power of STAAH’s API, hoteliers can automate these restrictions in real time, ensuring that they are always in sync with market conditions, events, or operational needs.

Managing restrictions through an API also simplifies the process, reduces manual errors, and enhances the overall efficiency of hotel operations. Whether you’re looking to optimize your room rates, adjust availability during peak periods, or manage booking behaviors, these API-supported restrictions provide the flexibility you need to meet your business objectives.

Conclusion

The ability to implement and manage various booking restrictions via STAAH’s API offers a strategic advantage for hotels aiming to optimize revenue and enhance guest experience. These tools enable hotels to maintain control over their availability and pricing strategies, ensuring they can adapt quickly to market changes and operational needs. With the ease of integration and real-time updates, managing these restrictions has never been more efficient.

For partners connected to our API, leveraging these restrictions can greatly improve operational efficiency and revenue management. Reach out to our support team for any further assistance or guidance on how to best utilize these features.
