Completing a globally recognized online course from ARMA has helped Yatish Thombare fine-tune his revenue management skills and further grow his property’s yield.
“It was applied learning on real-life booking data that made a huge impact,” says Yatish, revenue manager at Nashik’s [India] Hotel Express Inn, who recently became the first STAAH customer to complete an online course in revenue management foundations from Australian Revenue Management Association (ARMA). “With every module I applied newer nuances of pricing that has helped improve the hotel’s revenue while learning.”
The association is a STAAH training partner and offers training courses worldwide via an easy-to-use online platform and offline workshops in selected regions. STAAH customers are eligible for a discount on their ARMA training course, with the first module being available for free via the STAAH website.
The Certificate in Revenue Management Foundations (Hospitality) consists of 7 self-paced modules taking approximately 10-15 hours to complete and students have access to ARMA support via email 7 days a week. The ARMA course uses sample revenue games based on different scenarios to get students thinking about concepts such as ProPAR, RevPAR, ADR, No Show Percentage, Segment Analysis, Fixed and Variable Costs, etc. “The course is very strongly geared towards improving the earning profitability of a property,” says Yatish. “I have been proactively applying the latest revenue management tactics acquired as part of the course on our 197-room multi-faceted property – the results have been pleasing for everyone.”
Hotel Express Inn welcomes business and leisure travelers, and has been accoladed nationally and internationally for its luxurious amenities. Following the ARMA learnings, Yatish and his team are strongly focused on forecasting demand for various room categories and shifting the price point to accommodate this. “The upgrade idea in offseason to give guests a feel of our place and get them used to a higher category with the object of upselling in the future is working well,” says Yatish.
The course learnings have worked well with the smart revenue management applications that come with STAAH’s Instant Channel Manager, the online distribution platform chosen by Hotel Express Inn to further their online reach and revenue.
“We’ve been able to address legacy issues around rate parity using STAAH’s Instant Channel Manager. It’s intuitive and single login dashboard has been a boon for a property as big as ours,” says Yatish. “Now, we have more reasons to love STAAH – getting us connected to ARMA and making it possible to easily apply the learnings for big gains.”
Commenting on the course and its relevance to revenue managers, Yatish says, “This course is designed for practicing revenue management professionals. No matter where you are in your career, with its practical format, the course will definitely leave you better off than before. It is a great investment in yourself – any learning is.”
ARMA also offers an accredited university-level program, the Graduate Certificate of Revenue Management, delivered 100% online and available to the global market. This is the first program of its kind and to be offered and is a globally recognized qualification. Online and offline workshops are also offered globally by ARMA. These are accessible to STAAH customers at a discounted price. Contact your STAAH account manager to learn more.
