Almost half a decade on with STAAH, the ‘aha’ moments continue for Dhyey. A passionate techie, he absolutely loves crafting out-of-the-box solutions for everyday hoteliers and the global reach of his role.
Tell Us a Bit About Your Career in Hospitality and the Journey to STAAH.
I have been in the hospitality industry for more than 10 years now. I started my career as a trainee in 2006 with a hospitality technology company. The role gave me the experience I needed to enroll for my Masters in Information Technology. After completing the course at James Cook University [Singapore], I rejoined the same company. I spent six years there honing my technology marketing and e-business for skills for the hospitality industry.
STAAH came a natural progression from that company. I joined the team when the company and the Surat technology centre was just being set-up – the opportunity was not one I would miss. And, I am glad I didn’t! I am now looking forward to the next decade with the winning team.
What Do You like Most About STAAH and Your Job?
STAAH brings out the “AHA!” in me.
The work culture is amazing – it’s inclusive, friendly and focused. Since most of the members in the technology centre have been here since we set up, the camaraderie is brilliant. We know each other very well. For me, that is the most satisfying aspect of my work with STAAH.
As for my own role, I absolutely love the global reach that my job gives me. I talk to people – hoteliers, property managers and property owners around the world. It has developed my horizons beyond anything I dreamt of when I stepped out of university.
This job pushes me to grow every day. I have to think out-of-the-box, helping hotels and resorts around the world find ways to join the technology band-wagon with the stupendous power of STAAH.
Your Hospitality Success Mantra?
Hospitality is all about customer service. If I have to sell to the masters of customer service, I have to be one step ahead of them in my response rates. Being quick on the feet, with a generous dash of innovation and quick wit, is the name of the game!!
Your Interests Outside STAAH. Do They Help You Do Your Job Better?
A Surat local since birth, I love everything this city offers. My time away from work is spent with family and friends, in particular my daughter. I join in the multitude of festivities that are inherent to the Indian culture. All this leaves me well reinvigorated to take on a new week at work where I always bring my A-game!
Some Funny Moments in Hospitality or with STAAH….
There have been so many funny moments in my journey with STAAH that it is difficult to put a finger on any one. However, I can say the most memorable fun moments for me are lunch times with the team. It is an absolute laughter riot.
