Kirsten Davies recently joined STAAH, but her careers in the hospitality industry dated back 20 years ago.
Tell us about your career in hospitality and the journey that took you to STAAH
I started in travel when I was 20 as a travel agent in Cambridge, worked for them for 4yrs, then when I had my daughter at 24 I worked for Hays Travel as a homeworker while she was young. I have also worked for Booking.com which led my interest not only in the travel industry but in channel management. When I saw the job with STAAH it was a natural progression for me.
What do you like most about STAAH and your job?
What I enjoy most about my role at STAAH is everyone is willing to help you and even though we are based all over the globe I really feel part of a caring team. It’s a challenging interesting role and I enjoy giving help and knowledge to all properties in UK and Europe. Talking to different people every day, training them and making their life simpler using our product.
What is your mantra for success in the hospitality industry?
Your existing customers are just as important as your new potential customers. I always make sure my current customers are happy with our service and have everything they need to maximise their business, positive word of mouth then gets friends and colleges excited and interested in being a part of a growing caring company.
What are your interests outside STAAH? Do they help you do your job better?
I am very dedicated to fitness and spend 4-5 days a week in the gym. I think this helps me in my work ethic as I give 100% and I am excited to push myself to do the very best in learning and passing on my knowledge in my role.
A few highlights from Cambridge UK your hometown, what you love about the place and where you’d take visitors….
Cambridge is beautiful with lots of open spaces and stunning colleges. In the summer I love to go punting down the river and take in all the history. I also enjoy sitting on the rooftop bar in one of the cities luxury hotels and watch the sun go down over this gorgeous historical city.
